Flooring over a wet slab
Yesterday I met with Joshua Reed of Floor Seal Technology. He had some very interesting photos of failed flooring installations over concreete slabs. Read the specifications for your adhesives and flooring materials. Concrete slabs can sweat moisture. Average flooring can handle 1-2 pounds of water pressure from the slab. Epoxy sealers can hold back a water pressure of 3-5 pounds. He mentioned one slab that had 20 pounds of water pressure upending the flooring.
Always test your slab moisture content before laying down the flooring. ASTM F1869-04
